Common Toxics

The following is a list of dangerous toxics commonly found in children's products such as toys and pacifiers.

  • Cadmium is a known carcinogen. It can cause kidney damage and brain defects.
  • Lead is a known carcinogen. It can cause damage to the nervous system and brain. Can lead to decreased learning ability and behavior defects.
  • Chromium suspected carcinogen. It can cause damage to the immune system.
  • Mercury can damage the nervous system, brain, kidneys, and developing fetus.
  • Arsenic is a known carcinogen.
  • Barium can cause damage to skin and sensory organs.
  • Selenium is a suspected carcinogen that can cause damage to organs and systems such as the brain, nervous system, and respiratory system.
  • Antimony can cause damage to blood and heart and other organs and systems such as the brain, nervous system, and reproductive system.
  • PVC has been linked to cancer, kidney damage, and reproductive system damage.
